Class with Danny Sharron

What year is it? Whoa I’m not quite sure where November went, but it included a trip to my Mom’s with my partner and a lot of cooking and being together which was wonderful. December was supposed to include a trip to Buffalo and back to Virginia to celebrate Christmas with our families, but December 21st marked my day one of Covid-19. It was my first time contracting it and I was down for the count. I’m incredibly grateful to have been able to stay home, for vaccines, boosters, and the ability to rest. I think my energy is still returning and the weeks have kind of blurred, but the end of January brought a marvelous occasion…

My first in-person class back since early 2020 and with the absolutely fabulous Danny Sharron. Danny teaches a class at One on One on auditioning for New Works. I absolutely LOVE working on new plays, and after a lot of zoom and screen acting within the frame it felt so very good to stretch my theatre muscles and get BIG. Danny and I had shared a survival job back in the day, and since then he’s had a hand in a lot of new works at Williamstown (among others) and he is currently the Senior Associate Director for Dear Evan Hansen.

I really enjoyed the sides Danny assigned me and his adjustments and feedback added even more layers to play with. I can’t emphasize enough how wonderful it was to be in a room with other actors discovering and unveiling our choices together. A truly regenerative evening.
